Summary:
Bipolar Disorder impacts the lives of children, adolescents and adults however there continues to be on average 10 years of misdiagnosis and nonbipolar treatment before receiving the diagnosis of bipolar disorder therefore delaying evidenced based pharmacological treatment. In most recent years there has been FDA approval of medications to treat different phases of bipolar illness. This presentation will describe both FDA and non FDA approved medications for the treatment of pediatric and adult individuals diagnosed with bipolar I or II disorder.
